Hope for Gaza: Fundraiser Dinner – “A Ray of Hope for Gaza's Weeping Souls”

In the wake of recent devastating events, Gaza faces an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. The region, already grappling with longstanding challenges, now confronts intensified hardships as conflict persists. The latest figures reveal staggering numbers of displaced families, with urgent needs for shelter, food, and medical aid. To alleviate the suffering of the survivors, a heartfelt plea was made in an joint effort to support the victims of a brutal genocide happening under the watchful eyes of the world. 

Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a profound difference in rebuilding shattered lives. 

On Sunday, December 3—2023 Four charitable organizations—Islamic Relief Canada, IDRF, Human Concern International and Penny Appeal Canada joined forces for a highly successful fundraising event.

The aim was clear to stand together in solidarity, providing a beacon of hope amid the darkest hours for those enduring unimaginable hardships in Gaza.

Over 750 people joined an evening filled with empathy, generosity, and solidarity at Aria Convention Centre in Surrey.  Excitingly, HCI, PAC, IRC, and IDRF collaborated to host a special fundraising event for Gaza, featuring Guest Speaker Shaykh Alaa Elsayyed. 

Epitomizing the unity of the Ummah. Sheikh Alaa Elsayed delivered a heartfelt keynote speech helping to raise over $300,000 with donations still coming in online.  

Similar events have been undertaken by local Masjids. On Saturday, December 2nd The Muslim community from various centers and mosques in Surrey and the lower Mainland demonstrated unparalleled solidarity, contributing almost $245K in cash and pledges. The BCMA Surrey/Delta Branch and Masjid Rahmah organized the event, garnering overwhelming support. BCMA Surrey Branches raised an impressive $245K for Gaza. The Richmond Branch had raised over $280K. 

The program concluded with a dinner prepared by the Surrey/Delta branch. President Asad Gondal expressed gratitude for the tremendous support from branches and organizations present, including Masjid Aulia Allah, Abu Bakr Masjid, White Rock Musallah, Jamia Riyadul Jannah, Friends of Pakistan, Masjid Rahma BCMA, Masjid Burnaby BCMA, Masjid Richmond BCMA, Masjid Abbotsford, Masjid Al Huda, and the Board of Management BCMA Richmond Jamia Masjid. Former Imam of Surrey Jamea Masjid and keynote speaker Qari Abdul Wahab was instrumental in raising the funds. 

Zaid Umer Ali, a 12-year-old from BC Muslim School, independently raised nearly $5000, emphasizing the plight of Gaza's children.
